Over the past few weeks, in between working on an update to our living room and some work in our yard, I have been working on face masks for children. Although I have donated quite a few to the local hospitals, these will be added to the site tomorrow with individual pictures. These masks are 2-layer, 100% cotton, 1/8″ ear loops (as i have found these to be the most comfortable for children), and no nose bridge. Although a mask can be custom made to include a nose bridge for your child, I decided it was best to not have them in these masks, asRead More →

This past week, I asked my husband if he would model a new mask style, that would allow one to wear their mask with an elastic to go over the head and around the neck. Those who know me, understand that my desire is never to create something fast, but rather take the time to create what a consumer would want. Fortunately, my husband is great at providing me the critique that I am looking for. In order to make this style fit best, he provided me the feedback that I was looking for, requiring that I take it apart, and make the necessary adjustments.Read More →

I have acquired a few requests for variations in the masks that I create. But two have prompted me to work on a few different designs to cover the neck area, which was the result of one who has a device on his neck due to the effects of larynx cancer; and the other a school teacher who would love something that would be easy to pull up, then when there are no students in the classroom take down while looking a little stylish. This is my first design. It is similar to that of a bandana (one layer) with an attached 2-layer mask underneath.Read More →

While working on the continuation of the Living Room update, I snuck away into the sewing room while David worked on some of the work he did not need me for. I’ve actually been working on these all week in between other activities, home updates, and sewing. In doing so, I was able to complete a couple requests plus a few others. With the following custom requests, I think I will need to provide a new, larger sized option for those with a little larger face than some. Once I receive feedback from those who acquire the masks discussed below, I will be able toRead More →

Yesterday afternoon after communicating with a friend and repeat customer discussing the details of what he was looking for in his next mask, I later received a group message in which he had shared with all his contacts. I am truly humbled by his kind words and positive feedback, while sharing with others, his personal views and endorsement of my sewing as well as the product of face masks, in which he and his wife Leisa received.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   “Friends, Customized face masks made in USA by a seamstess friend! The link says it all! If want to know why – read below. I hopeRead More →

This morning I was able to update the FOR SALE – Face Masks page. The various masks are sorted by size and style. Be sure to scroll to find what you are looking for. As of today, the emergent need for masks is changing. Individuals are seeking to purchase quality masks for when they are required to wear them. Since there are many available mask options available, you have choices from business supply stores, social media click-bait sites, even fabric stores are now selling pre-made masks, as well as other seamstresses who are still selling masks. Although I would love for you to purchase from me,Read More →

Yesterday I was able to complete a custom order for 12 masks, using materials that my customer from FL provided. This is an option for those interested, as I will not always have the fabric selections a customer might desire, and allows a family, individual or business to hand select their fabrics. The price does not change when you provide materials, mostly due to the masks that I create are labor intensive. I start out by washing all materials before use, drying then ironing them. Once this is done, material is cut. In addition to the front material on the face of the mask, otherRead More →

One thing that has become evident during this COVID-19 crisis, is that not only are supplies in limited supplies, but the shipping/mailing has had an impact. Sometimes the checks will arrive 5-8 days after being mailed, and priority mail (which I currently ship all packages) are arriving sometimes the next day, while other times 5+ days, despite my payment for 1-2 day delivery. NOTE: Since I have found a way to print labels and ship First Class, that is now an option to save on shipping costs. Sadly, this is not something that I personally have any control over, yet with the tracking I canRead More →

When I first learned of the need for PPE – Face Masks for healthcare providers, my heart strings were tugged, and I went to work sewing. I have many friends who work in healthcare, where I have also worked beside many, and today, along with healthcare providers who I not only respect but also care deeply for. Sometimes we forget that our healthcare providers are as human as we are, forgetting that they too have worries, family needs and work stresses. When this virus came along I was emotionally hit hard. Yet, instead of hiding under the covers, I decided I could do something. ToRead More →
