Butterick 3965 Altered for a better fit.

Such a beautiful fabric that I needed to make a dress with it. In selecting the pattern, I selected on one that provided a nice, yet slightly loose fit. In doing so, I found that it didn’t provide the flattering look I was looking for. In the alteration, I took the hem up 6″ so that it came to my knee, vs. mid-calf. I also had to take the shoulders up as I looked as though I was playing dress-up. I tapered the waist in a little as well. What I love about this dress are the sleeves and the V-neckline. The V-line is a modest depth. Now, I’m trying to decide if the dress might be best with a belt or worn as is. I’m thinking the belt wins!

A summer dress with beautiful floral fabric! I found this fabric while out and about and fell in love with it. A fun dress to wear.

Green Cotton Batik Peasant Style Blouse: I had this fabric just waiting patiently on my “to-do pile” of items. Since I am very fond of Batiks, this was one in an earthy green, lightweight cotton print. The weight of the fabric is a little light for winter months, but can be layered with a t-shirt or tank-top underneath. I have always loved the peasant style, which allow me to work or cook while the sleeves stay in place.

A special request for a white summer dress
